Terms of Use
The fine print, in plain English. Last updated October 2026.
What this site is
Field Traveler publishes travel guides for independent travelers. Everything here is provided for informational purposes only.
Travel information changes
Prices, opening hours, visa rules, and transport schedules change constantly. We update our guides regularly, but we can't guarantee every detail is current on the day you read it. Always verify critical details — visa requirements, entry fees, booking deadlines — with official sources before you travel.
No liability
We're not liable for how your trip turns out. If a restaurant we liked has gone downhill, a trail is closed, or a price has doubled since we wrote about it, that's the nature of travel writing — not grounds for a claim. Travel involves inherent risks; you travel at your own judgment.
Intellectual property
Our words are ours. You may quote short excerpts with attribution and a link back, which we'd appreciate. Don't republish full articles without permission. Contact us for image licensing inquiries.
Acceptable use
Don't scrape this site aggressively, don't hotlink our images, and don't use our content to train models without asking. If you're building something interesting with our content, talk to us — we're usually reasonable.
External links
Our guides link to official sources — tourism boards, transport operators, booking platforms. We link to them because they're useful, not because we're paid to. We're not responsible for what happens on other websites; their terms apply once you leave ours.
User submissions
If you send us a correction, tip, or photo, you're giving us permission to use it on the site (with credit where appropriate). Don't send us anything you don't have the right to share.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site evolves. The "last updated" date at the top tells you when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept them.
Governing spirit
The spirit of these terms is simple: we write honest guides, you use your judgment, and we both act in good faith. If a dispute ever arises that can't be resolved by email, we'll deal with it reasonably and expect the same.
